Ever been so good, and one mistake spoils everything? Brie Larson has been the center of much controversy over the years.
Since she was cast in Captain Marvel, rumors and controversies have been a part of her.
You can just try posting your love for her as Captain Marvel to trigger angry fans who still express their dislike for Larson.
Captain Marvel trailer bombed
Despite Marvel Studios promoting many movies, Captain Marvel’s efforts failed to spark the excitement that was already there for the strongest Avenger on screen.
The trailer was so boring and fans had complained that Brie didn’t portray the “humor quota” of superheroes.
However, the kickass action portrays her witty exchanges with Samuel Jackson’s son Fury.
It should be enough to cover the complaints, but still, there’s more to her acting that causes the hate.
Larson as Captain Marvel was strictly a one-note character.
Brie is known for her range of acting skills; emotionless, snarky and overconfident.
This is how writers wanted her to play the part of Carol Danvers. People are entitled to their own opinion, and one of the reasons is that Brie looks genuine.
But considering she’s playing a character whose life aliens have erased memories and emotions, a Sophie’s Choice approach wouldn’t have applied.
DID YOU KNOW?
As a 7-year-old, Brie Larson appeared as an extra on ‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’.
However, most people had no contact with Captain Marvel due to its stoic presence and shallow character arcs.
This doesn’t mean Brie is a bad actor, but she just played her part as the script asked of her.
She recently won the Academy Award for her performance in Room; therefore she wouldn’t struggle to give a convincing performance like Captain Marvel.
Brie Larson outspoken feminism
Brie Larson has taken full advantage of her role in Captain Marvel.
She promotes the need for diverse interviewers and film critics.
Captain Marvel also helps her become aware of how white influence mainly hovers over Hollywood.
While most MCU actors are politically vocal, such as Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo, Brie’s views are misunderstood.
Her strongly based stance for feminism is used against her for hating white men.
According to her fans, Brie said at a press conference that her movie “A Wrinkle in Time” was not made for white men.
She is so outspoken about feminism, saying, “I don’t need a 40-year-old white person to tell me what didn’t work on A Wrinkle in Time. It was not made for him!” She clarified her intentions, but it has always been difficult to take these words back for a celebrity.
Brie Larson’s YouTube channel is launched only to increase extreme dislike from fans.
Brie uploaded her first video, “So I made a decision.” The video already has more than 2 million views.
Despite garnering 196k likes, the video also had 144k dislikes.
This is a lot of thumbs-down, and if it’s not enough, some people comment that it should be higher.
The actress doesn’t seem to be going anywhere in MCU and cares less about people’s opinions. She is already gaining a huge YouTube following and landing high profile gigs.
While arguing about whether she is a good actress, it would be best to approach the film with an open mind.
Just go through her different character roles and critique the performance from there.
Otherwise, criticism beforehand makes her unfounded!
