PUBG Developer Krafton Unveils His First Virtual Human – Ana!

Krafton’s Ana gets an advanced face-rigging technology that is supposed to express the movement of the pupil, fine facial muscles and wrinkles.

Virtual avatars of people have become all the rage on social media. Some virtual influencers even have 6 million followers on Instagram. Krafton, the popular PUBG developer of battle royale games, has launched the first images of his virtual human Ana. She was supposed to be unveiled in February through a technical demonstration, but that didn’t work out. Powered by hyper-realism, rigging and deep learning, Ana is designed to “engage a global audience and help build Krafton’s Web 3.0 ecosystem.” Ana was developed using Unreal Engine and the developer says Ana has “a hyper-realistic look, blurring the lines between a digital character and a real human”.

Ana has human-like features, such as the baby hairs and fluff on her skin. The highly advanced face-rigging technology subtly expresses the movement of the pupil, fine facial muscles and wrinkles, and allows the natural joint movement all over the body to make hair look real. The company has used advanced speech synthesis to help create Ana’s voice so she can act and sing like a real human being. Also Read: 5 PUBG Facts You Probably Didn’t Know

Josh Seokjin Shin, head of Krafton’s Creative Center, said: “Ana is a hyper-realistic virtual human created by Krafton’s unparalleled technology. We expect her to spark the interest and popularity of Gen Z around the world.” He also shared that Ana will be releasing an original music track and expanding her influencer activities into different areas of entertainment and esports.

Krafton will first launch Ana through an original music track. The South Korean game company will share more information about Ana through images, videos and her unique storyline later this year.
