Octavia Spencer is an American producer, actress and author. She is not your average actress.
She has received numerous accolades, including the Academy and Golden Globe Awards.
She has also won the Screen Actors Guild Awards three times. Her breakthrough came when she acted in The Help. She went on to play in numerous acts in Halloween II, The Shape of Water and Thunder Force.
Always being portrayed as a bold and strong woman makes people curious about her private life.
Even though she is successful in her craft, many wonder what her love life is like. It has been asked several times, who is the lucky one?
Octavia Spencer is currently not in a relationship. She has never been married and has no children.
She enjoys her time in Hollywood.
This can be seen in her tight schedule as she has starred in several movies, the latest being Encounter, alongside Melissa McCarthy and Viola Davis. She may be short on time, so she can’t make it on time for a date or a relationship.
She stated that in 2021 she spent a few weeks at her home in LA because she was busy with work and there were a lot of offers.
At one point, it was rumored that she was in a relationship with The Help director Tate Taylor since they lived together in Los Angeles for seven years. Spencer moved to LA after Tate advised her it would be good for her career.
Their work on the movie The Help made Spencer an Oscar winner. The two publicly stated that they were just friends.
Tate has come out as openly gay and is dating Todd Norris. Octavia and Tate have been friends since 1995 and have worked together on many projects.
The actress was also linked to Josh Hopkins, the Cougar Town star. This was fueled by his appearance as her date at the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The two were introduced to each other by the director of The Help, although it later turned out that they were also just friends.
Hopkins and Octavia talked about Auburn University because they both studied at the institution. She had a major in English and a minor in theater and journalism.
One reason not to date is, “It’s really hard to be in that ’60s mentality and then go out into the real world and have fun,” she continued. “So not me. I isolate.”
She also admits that she dated the wrong people when she was looking for love. She has compared herself to an archetypal character when it comes to romance.
About having children
The actress had done an excellent job of hiding her love life. During her career, she has not entered into any relationship known to the public.
Although she is very secretive, she has occasionally shared her thoughts about having children, and they seem contradictory. She writes children’s books and says she loves spending time with her cousins, even though she doesn’t have a child.
She once said, “I definitely want kids,” Octavia continued, “I wanted three, but I’m in my early 40s now, so I’d be happy to have one healthy baby.”
A few months later, her statement was different. In 2013, during a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress said she didn’t mind reaching menopause.
She said, ‘I should be married and have 19 kids, and now I think my eggs are on the shelf dying. They are past their expiration date. But it’s what I chose, so I’m okay with that decision.”
In 2015, she reiterated that she did not want to have children.
Despite being single and in her late 40s, she’s not worried or scared, and even said she’s fine with no kids.
She said: “I am not a mother at all. I have no children.”
Since then, Octavia has not talked much about her private life plans.
It seems she’s decided she doesn’t want kids in the future and said motherhood is a concept she may not experience in her lifetime, and she didn’t mind.
When she dated other stars, she once said, “You don’t want to muddy the waters at work.”
It’s safe to assume that the star is purely focused on her profession with no time for children or love.
Whether she decided to get married is a topic for another day.
