Holidays 2022: Banks play a very crucial role in dealing with finances. From depositing money, updating passbook to transferring amount and much more, you need to visit the nearest bank branches to carry out various banking activities. To get your banking related work done smoothly and on time, you need to know the list of holidays. As the month of May is about to begin, plan your work accordingly. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a list of public holidays, and according to the RBI Bank Holidays list, banking activities will remain impacted for 4 days in May, excluding weekends (second and fourth Saturday and Sunday).
However, it should be noted that online or internet banking remains open 24×7, that is, even on the days when banks remain closed. However, as not all banking activities can be performed using internet banking, you may need to visit your nearest bank branch. According to information provided by the RBI, the holidays in May fall under three categories: holidays under the negotiable instruments law; Holiday under the negotiable instruments law and real-time gross settlement holiday; and the closing of accounts by banks.

Public holidays in May 2022
1. May 2, 2022: The banks will remain closed on May 2 due to Ramjan-Eid (Eid-UI-Fitra) in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
2. May 3, 2022: Banks remain closed on the occasion of Bhagvan Shree Parshuram Jayanti/Ramjan-Eid (Eid-UI-Fitra)/Basava Jayanti/Akshaya Tritiya in all parts of the country except Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
3. May 9, 2022: The banks remain closed on the occasion of Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday in Kolkata.
4. May 16, 2022: Banks remain closed on the occasion of Buddha Purnima in Agartala, Belapur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla and Srinagar.
In addition to the above dates, the banks will also remain closed on May 14, 2022 and May 28, 2022 due to the second and fourth Saturday and on May 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 due to Sundays.
