Microsoft and Epic Games are bringing Fortnite to Xbox Cloud Gaming so iPhone users can play the game for free.
After a long absence, Fortnite is back on Apple devices and Epic Games is back on Microsoft. The iOS and iPadOS gamers can finally play Fortnite again after Microsoft and Epic Games bring Fortnite to Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing users to play the game without an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. You can now play Fortnite on an Android phone or tablet, or Windows PC with internet access via a web browser by simply using your Microsoft account. You don’t need to download or install anything.
But before you jump into excitement, keep in mind that the Xbox Cloud Gaming service is technically still in beta, so it’s currently available in just 26 countries. Microsoft has also announced that they plan to bring more free-to-play games to the Xbox Cloud Gaming service for the fans of mobile games who aren’t too excited about Fortnite. They said, “At Xbox, we want to make gaming accessible to the 3 billion players around the world, and the cloud plays an important role in that mission.” However, there is currently no confirmation on what other free-to-play games will be made available.
It would be quite interesting to see if Microsoft is really committed to its mission to make gaming more accessible and how long free-to-play games will actually stay free in the cloud.
Until now, Xbox Cloud Gaming was only available to paying Game Pass subscribers, but now Fortnite is free, with Microsoft removing the subscription requirement for free-to-play games.
