Halo Infinite will be the biggest Halo launch of all time

With over 20 million Spartans ready for battle, Halo Infinite has officially become the series’ biggest launch ever. 343 Studios, the developer behind the iconic series, took to Twitter earlier today to celebrate the milestone, writing, “Thank you, everyone, for joining us on the next step in this amazing journey.”

Microsoft first shared the big news at its quarterly earnings meeting on January 25, where it announced record-breaking company-wide earnings. According to Microsoft, the company as a whole thrived over the past holiday season, with Xbox services revenue growing 10% from October through December and Xbox hardware revenue growing 4%. It’s no surprise that these numbers are largely influenced by the release of Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5, both of which have led to higher Xbox Series X and Game Pass subscription sales.

The news about Microsoft’s achievement comes shortly after the company made headlines last week by announcing that it will buy Activision Blizzard, the company behind Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo and Candy Crush. The $70 billion deal came as a shock to the gaming industry and has raised many questions about how this purchase will affect the industry in general, as well as the ongoing investigations, strikes, and allegations against Activision Blizzard.
