10 Best Anime Boys of all Time in 3 Categories: Ranked

Ichigo Kurosaki

Anime series have been around for 60 years, and that being said – it’s no wonder so many people watch them on a daily basis.

Like any other series, anime world has many great characters, some villains, some the sweetest characters ever.

Read on to discover the best anime guys in three categories: the hottest, the best, and a special category for male characters with the best redemption arc.

(Note: The first category is based solely on the taste of the article writer and is subjective.)

Top 10 Hottest Guys from Anime

I don’t think this category needs much explanation, just google it and you’ll understand why all these guys ended up on the Hottest list:

  1. Levi Ackerman from “Attack on Titan”
  2. Ichigo Kurosaki from “Bleach”
  3. Gray Fullbuster from “Fairy Tail”
  4. Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez from “Bleach”
  5. Sasuke Uchiha from “Naruto”
  6. Satoru Gojo from “Jujutsu Kaisen”
  7. Eren Yeager from “Attack on Titan”
  8. Zero Kiryu from “Vampire Knight”
  9. Toga Yagari from “Vampire Knight”
  10. Kiba from “Wolf’s Rain”

Yes, I have a thing for emotionally damaged, tall and slender guys.

And yes, I know some of these villains can be called, but listen to me – that’s why we have two more categories.

Roy Mustang

Top 10 Best Male Anime Characters

This category also needs no explanation.

In the eyes of the author, to be one of the greatest male characters, the boy should not do evil or criminal acts, but protect those around him with his life.

  1. Roy Mustang from “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”
  2. Naruto Uzumaki from “Naruto”
  3. Ken Kaneki from “Tokyo Ghoul”
  4. Erwin Smith from “Attack on Titan”
  5. Minato from “Naruto”
  6. Decim from “Death Parade”
  7. Levi Ackerman from “Attack on Titan”
  8. Neji Hyuga from “Naruto”
  9. Edward Elric from “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood”
  10. Kiba from “Wolf’s Rain”

Top 10 Male Characters Fulfilling Their Redemption Arcs

According to the World Wide Web, many anime male characters have completed their redemption arcs, but there is a lot to disagree with.

For example, we can all agree that Orochimaru from Naruto has not redeemed himself despite all his efforts and sacrifices.

Important Note: Unlike the first two categories, this one contains a lot of spoilers.

Here are some male characters that I actually feel redeemed myself:

  1. Hohenheim from “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” – Edward and Alphonse’s father is a passive character in the anime.

After losing everyone at some point, the guilt consumed him from within and he decided to be a human shield for his family, fighting to protect Izumi Curtis, his sons, and several others.

  1. Ulquiorra from “Bleach” — at the time of his death, Ulquiorra, one of the most evil villains in Bleach, said that just because he doesn’t have the heart muscle doesn’t mean he’s heartless.

This goes as a final apology to Orihime.

  1. Obito Uchiha from “Naruto” – in his final moments, Obito sacrifices himself for Rin and gives his left Sharingan to Kakashi.

Spoiler alert: he’s been revived, so his sacrifice wasn’t in vain!

  1. Guts of “Berserk” – After overcoming his obsession with revenge, Guts begins to process his trauma instead of focusing on revenge.

He is finally at peace with his inner self and with the people around him.

  1. Piccolo from “Dragon Balls” – he is the dark half of Kami, who takes care of no one until he adopts Gohan.

After devoting his life to killing Goku, he redeems all his acts of hatred when he sacrifices himself to save Goku.

  1. Gaara from “Naruto” – this is another redemption arc that not many people would agree with.

Gaara’s self-sacrifice while saving the Sand Village from Akatsuki is a great character development, as well as a great attempt to redeem himself.

  1. Greed from “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” – one of the seven Homunculi created by Vader so they can protect him.

Greed is trapped in Ling’s body and he sacrifices himself to Father to protect Ling, and through this sacrifice he allows the Elric brothers to destroy him.

  1. Pain/Nagato from “Naruto” – One of the villains in Naruto, he ends up using his rinne rebirth on the entire leaf village to revive Kakashi and everyone else even though he would have to fight them.
  2. Hendrickson from “The Seven Deadly Sins” – he manipulated his way through the series, only to realize what a huge mistake he had made in reviving the Ten Commandments.

He sided with the Seven Deadly Sins to try to undo this, thus protecting the kingdom and redeeming himself.

  1. Itachi from “Naruto” – he was given the choice to save himself and his brother or everyone will be killed.

He helps Sasuke develop Mangekyo Shanringan as a deed of redemption.
