Best video games of 2022 (so far): The year 2022 has been an exciting journey when it comes to the video games released so far. Unlike the previous year, we didn’t see any major disasters like Cyberpunk 2077 or eFootball 2022, with both games suffering from creating high expectations but not delivering on them. Overall, the year 2022 has seen massive improvements with video games offering stunning graphics, better storylines and immersive gameplay. So halfway through the year, we thought we had to name the best video games of 2022. For us, the spotlight was stolen by Diablo Immortal, Evil Dead, Sniper Elite 5, Ghostwire: Tokyo and Pokemon Legends: Arceus. So check out the full list below.

We also have to include Wordle as an honorable mention on the list. While Wordle does not qualify as a modern video game and thus is excluded from the list, this simple word game has taken the whole world by storm. And whether you’ve played the game or not, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve certainly heard of it.

Diablo Immortal

Platform: Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows

The game was released on June 2 and it would become one of those titles that would be loved or absolutely hated. The game was criticized by the fans who didn’t like that the PC franchise took a turn for the mobile-first ecosystem with microtransaction model. While the public opinion of publisher Blizzard has not yet been voted on, the game has turned out to be a game changer. The game manages to bring its PC-esque graphics to a mobile-friendly ecosystem without ever feeling out of place, and the controls are very intuitive on mobile, making the dungeon themed gameplay very immersive and fun to play.

Evil Dead: the game

Platform: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft Windows

As a franchise, everyone knows about Evil Dead. Whether the movies do well or not, the game adaptations are always loved by gamers of all ages and preferences. Evil Dead: The Game presents the nostalgia of the older games around modern visuals, gameplay and controls. The game offers a fun multiplayer experience where you can choose the Necronomicon slayer heroes like Ash Williams or Henry The Red or control an entire Army of Darkness. Whether you choose to fight for your survival or wreak havoc as the overlord of evil and try to own the heroes, you are sure to have a good time.

Sniper Elite 5

Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows

Developed and published by Rebellion Developments, Sniper Elite 5 is a third-person tactical shooter stealth video game that is surprisingly refreshing once you can get past its ultra-violence. The game has built up the levels very carefully and it shows in the missions. While the game is not an innovation genius, it is incredibly fun to confront and kill Nazis in stunning environments and smooth gameplay.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

Platform: PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows

Next on our list of the best games of 2022 is an action-adventure game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks. Ghostwire: Tokyo offers stunningly terrifying visuals, immersive gameplay and a storyline that will keep you hooked. From enemy design to cityscapes, there’s hardly a dull moment in the game. Some players feel that the game can get a bit grainy at times, but that doesn’t really detract from the fun of the game.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Platform: Nintendo Switch

The last in our list of the best video games of 2022 features a Pokemon game. It is widely known that innovating a Pokemon game is quite difficult. The game sells because of its formula and the anime series follows based on the game. And in the 26 years since the first Pokemon game, it hasn’t really been an issue. But Pokemon Legends: Arceus has emphasized how refreshing the game could be if things were to change. The action-adventure RPG throws you back in time to help put together the first Pokedex and this time the focus is less on combat and more on research.
